Key West’s Best Travel Months For The Weather And Your Wallet
The first rule of real estate and vacation is “location, location, location.” Few will argue against the marvels of Key West as a focus destination, though personal experiences may cast doubt over a favorable location. Identifying the ideal time to travel is vital to the experience as vacationers feel the effects of both the climate and their budget.
Key West – The Pattern
Vacation times tend to follow four general sequences. The period that is most readily available to vacationers is the time between December and early March where vacation days have stockpiled and northern weather is sour. Following is the end of March through early May before temperatures begin to rise to summer levels. The Keys find their hottest range from June through August. Finally, is the lead up to the holiday season in October and November.
Travelers identify Key West and Little Palm Island as a favorite destination because of the weather and mental getaway it provides. In order to truly appreciate the weather, vacationers will want to visit between November and April. The average temperature range for those months is 68.5°F and 78.2°F. Summer months see a rise in highs as the top of the scale settles in around 90.0°F before accounting for humidity. Enjoying the weather also means being able to go outside and enjoy yourself. Rain can be an awful deterrent, but again there is a clear differential. February tends to be the driest month of the season (followed by March and April). The Nov-April range sees less than half the rain of the other six months. The Keys offer an array of enjoyable activities from seaplane aided views to time in the water that was just seen from above, but rain can often handicap these experiences.
Many people paying for a vacation often feel they cannot enjoy themselves if they feel they’ve spent too much. Like the weather, financial rates fluctuate through the seasons to accommodate occupancy. As expected, the preferred travel time between December and early March tend to see the highest rates with rooms up to 50% more expensive than the down months. Average prices tend to fall after the first week or so of March and continue dropping until the end of August when it begins to cool.
Key West – When to Go
There are other factors that will dictate whether a visitor will stay on Little Palm Island or elsewhere in the Keys, but Key West as a whole sees travel dictated by weather and prices. The ideal time would be around New Year’s, but exorbitant prices force many vacationers to look elsewhere on the calendar. Temperatures remain enjoyable through early May and prices begin to fall during March. This window of ten or so weeks frames as the ideal time to visit Key West so that everyone involved gains the most out of the trip.
